Ingredients

  • 500g fish fillets (preferably a firm white fish)

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 2 tomatoes, chopped

  • 1/2 cup coconut milk

  • 1 tablespoon tamarind paste

  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds

  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

Prepare Masala:

Grind mustard seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, and red chili powder to make a smooth masala paste.

Cook Onions:

Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped onions and cook until golden brown.

Add Masala and Tomatoes:

Add the masala paste to the onions. Cook for a couple of minutes. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.

Cook Fish:

Add fish fillets to the masala mixture. Cook until the fish is almost done.

Add Coconut Milk and Tamarind:

Pour in coconut milk and tamarind paste. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until the fish is fully cooked.

Garnish and Serve:

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot with steamed rice.
